Some say they’d rather live in the “world” and stay away from the “underworld.” That they don’t care about the vampires feeding off society. That they’d rather keep their eyes shut, follow the routine, trust the system, and stay out of what they call “darkness.” But that choice is an illusion. A comfortable lie. Because the underworld rules the world.
The world you see — the news, the elections, the scandals, the trends, the prices, the conflicts — is a well-staged theater. Real power hides backstage. In covert networks of trafficking, espionage, high-end prostitution, drugs, and money laundering. In secret alliances between politicians, businessmen, and intelligence agencies. The average citizen floats on the surface. Reality operates in the depths.
They tell you you’re free, but track every click. Tell you you have choice, but control the options. Say democracy is the foundation, but the parties are puppets in a staged war. You’re not deciding — they are. The ones who live in the underworld. The vampires your friend prefers to ignore.
But ignoring won’t save you. Your life is shaped by that underworld every day. The job you lose, the food prices, the drugs flooding your neighborhood, the missing girls, the buried scandals, the silent suicides — all of it comes from there. Not knowing doesn’t protect you. It just makes you easier to manipulate.
Knowing changes you. Changes how you walk in the street. How you speak. Who you trust. How you deal with authority. Knowledge won’t hand you a weapon to destroy the system — but it will armor you against it. Makes you less predictable. Less controllable. More resistant.
Choosing to live in the “world” is choosing to be cattle. Walking asleep among predators. Once you wake up, you never sleep peacefully again — but you’re never caught off guard either.
Waking up hurts. Knowing is heavy. But living in ignorance is accepting to be part of the herd. Part of the meat. And the herd never survives the wolves — it only feeds the feast.
